The vice president is thought to be battling a party faction backing First Lady Grace Mugabe in the bitter race to succeed the 92-year-old President Robert Mugabe.

Those fired include former July Moyo who, in Zanu PF, is seen as Mnangagwa’s chief of staff.

The sacking was done by the party’s Midlands provincial coordination committee and the provincial executive committee on Friday in Gweru.

The PCC recommended the expulsion of July Moyo, Victor Matemadanda, Owen Muda Ncube and Goodwills Shiri by the Party’s National disciplinary committee.

The party’s provincial executive committee later sat and gave a vote of no confidence to other five party members who include, Cornelius Mupereri, John Holder Justice Mayor Wadyajena one Mutambisa C and another member identified as Cde Chigaba.

All the nine condemned Zanu PF members were being accused of, Gross misconduct, promoting division and fanning factionalism, defying party directives, running parallel party structures in the province, denigrating the office of the President and bringing the party’s name into disrepute.

Acting Zanu PF Midlands provincial chairperson Tapiwa Matangaidze could not be reached for comment.
