MDC-T youth leader charged over Bob slur

POLICE Monday detained MDC-T national youth chairperson, Happymore Chidziva, for comments he made three months ago about President Mugabe having failed to end poverty and corruption in the country.

police-badge250Chidziva, who turned himself in at Masvingo Central Police Station, was later released.

MDC-T youth secretary, Lovemore Chinoputsa, confirmed the development saying police had been hunting for Chidziva for utterances allegedly made at a rally in Mashava three months ago.

Chidziva made the remarks at the launch of the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) where he accused Mugabe and his cronies of failing to end poverty and corruption in the country.

Chinoputsa told New Zimbabwe Chidziva had been charged with inciting violence and misconduct and may appear in court soon. He said it was strange the way the police acted, charging his colleague and then releasingg him without saying when he would appear in court.

“We are actually puzzled by the way things have turned out this afternoon because the way police hunted for our Chairman was so intense but, how they handled the matter leaves us with so many questions. It is so puzzling how this government is behaving.

“For us MDC-T youths, the Mugabe regime is attempting to intimidate our own members in order to divert them from focusing on their duties in the party,” fumed Chinoputsa.

He vowed that MDC-T youths will not be intimidated and will remain committed to their struggle of toppling Mugabe constitutionally.

“Change will come, no matter how Mugabe harasses the masses and those pushing for a new Zimbabwe,” added Chinoputsa.

Dozens of people have been arrested for making comments on Mugabe.
