Joseph Chakanetsa, 28, landed in trouble after he drove his tipper truck into Borrowdale Road last weekend while President Mugabe was going to his private home in the posh suburb.
The trucker pleaded guilty to three counts, including failure to stop after committing the offence, failure to follow police orders and negligent driving.
Court heard that, after committing the offence, Chakanetsa sped off in his truck, driving against oncoming traffic.
He was only apprehended in Kambuzuma after one Sergeant Mazowe, who was among Mugabe’s escort team, sought reinforcement.
Chakanetsa however, told court that he sped off out of fear after realising that he got into the road while the President was still passing.
He pleaded for leniency, saying he had not heard the motorcade sirens because his truck is noisey, adding that he had also not caused harm to anyone or damaged property.
Magistrate Tendai Rusinahama however, slapped the trucker with a prison sentence and also banned him from driving trucks and public transport for life.
Patience Chimusaru prosecuted.

How can you ban someone for life, just because he is supposed to have inconvenienced a useless president. He must use a helicopter so that he does not inconvenience road tax paying public.
