Mandela-Washington Fellow seeking Obama’s help in resolving Zimbabwe crisis

WASHINGTON — A Mandela Washington Fellow based in California, Samuel Wadzai, says he is trying to use the opportunity he has been granted under the Young African Leaders program to seek President Barack Obama's help in resolving Zimbabwe's social, economic and political problems.

Wadzai will be part of the 60 fellows that will join others for a summit hosted by United States President Barack Obama in Washington DC next month following a six-week training program at different universities and colleges in the US.

Wadzai is also part of Tajamuka-Sesijikile, a group of young people that are calling for a stop to corruption, an end of police brutality and for President Robert Mugabe to step down.

“I am in support of all the peaceful protests taking place in Zimbabwe but am very saddened by the police brutality we have witnessed and the way that people are being arrested despite protesting peacefully,” said Wadzai.
