The district administrator, Edite Ramalho, confirmed the assault during an interview with Radio Mozambique.
Ramalho added that Renamo had set fire to the offices of the administrative post and the police station. The attackers also partially destroyed the residence of the head of the administrative post and vandalised the health centre.
She explained that the security forces are already on the scene, with the local government taking stock of the theft and damage that occurred during the raid.
This is the third attack carried out by Renamo in recent weeks in Niassa province. The other assaults took place in Muapula and Maiaca, in the district of Maua.
