ZCF to host international chess open

Zimbabwe Chess federation will this month from the 30th -1st  of January 2018 at Causeway, Post Office. All sections will be playing at the same venue. the tourney will be an 8 round fide rated tourney.

International Arbiter Simbarashe Murimi will be the Chief Arbiter for the event, he will be assisted by FA Chimbamu and FA Jemani in the running of the tourney. FI Elton Mhangarayi will be the tournament Director

while Ivan Chivese will be doing the pairings for the tourney. Registration for the tourney ends on the 29th of December by 1600 hours. Players should do their registration through ecocash to the treasurer Farai Masanganise on 0772422015. Please register early to avoid missing the first round of the tourney.Accredited adult players pay $7.00 while the unaccredited adults pay $10.00. Scholars pay $5.00.

The tourney will have different sections.The players will walk away with cash US dollars for winning the tourneywith the first prize in the open section expected to be $500.00. daggers will be out for these dollars and players will be battling on the checkered board.Zhemba Zhemusse will be battling for the top honours with Vitalis Mapuranga, Spencer Masango, Simon Bokamoso of Botswana, Elisha Chimbamu, Emerad Mushore and other scholars like Farai Hamandishe will be vying for the top spot.

Fireworks and eruptions are expected in this start -studded field which is likely going to attract some foreign based players as well as players from the Southern African chess playing family.In the ladies section players like Valentine Pasipanodya, will be battling for the top spot with the defending Champion Tatenda Zengeni, pressure will also be coming from WCM Rumbidzai Mawire who has caused a lot of problems to the senior ladies players. Anotidaishe Madamombe can also not be outdone, she will fighting against the senior players though she is a young girl.

The tourney will bring about the talent in Zimbabwe in the chess family with some players expected to come from as far as Bulawayo, Mutare and other provinces. Veteran player Dhapeta will also be taking part, he has caused a lot of upsets in the previous tournies defeating the rated players of repute. Tawananyasha Mawire, Tadiwanashe Madaka and Tinaye Madamombe will be fighting for the best player in their category. This will be an interesting affair as the battlefields of the minds will be drawn at this big tournament, which ends the years and starts another one.Meanwhile CBZ chess club were crowned winners of the Harare seniors chess league with Mabvuku chess Academy coming a credible second in a star-studded field.
