Tendai Biti
Biti, a senior lawyer and leading opposition figure was on a police wanted list since the the results of the controversial elections were announced last week. Seven people were shot dead by the army following disturbances that greeted the election result announcements.
The MDC has denounced the results as fake. It is understood the party is about to mount a legal challenge in the constitutional court.
According to unconfirmed reports Biti was set to seek political asylum in Zambia.
