All is set for Zimbabwe chess open

All is set for the Zimbabwe Open chess international tournament which starts on the 29th of December to the 1st of January 2019. 

The tournament will be held at Causeway Post Office Canteen. The tournament will be bankrolled by Crystal Candy as the main sponsor. The Chief Arbiter for the tournament will be International Arbiter Simbarashe Murimi.
There will be four sections namely: ladies, Open, Madalas and the under 14 section for both boys and girls. fierce battle lines have been drawn already as we draw nigh. Zhemba Jemusse the defending Champion will be out to defend his title from the other players locally and we may have an International flavour as we are likely to have players from Zambia, Botswana, and possibly Malawi. It will be a pulsating tournament which closes the calendar and opens another year which is 2019.
Khisho Nyirenda the author at Africa chess media is also likely to be around covering this big event. Last time Daisy of Malawi attended one of our tournaments and played one of the most interesting games of the tournament against Colleta Wakuruwarehwa. WCM Kudzanai Charinda, Christine Makwena, WCM Paidaishe Zengeni and WCM Mathe Lungelo will be fighting for honours in the ladies section. Not to be outdone will be Woman Fide Master Refiloe Mudod who will be out to show why she is the first Zimbabwean Woman Fide Master after a sterling performance against the Egyptian, Tunise and South Africans at the recently held Africa Youth Chess Championships which were held in Kisimu, Kenya. The under 14 players will be out in full force as they are on school holiday and will be fighting for honours in their category.
Daniel Marumbini, and other young players like the Jasi brothers, Nathan and Laison will be out in full force to take this category. The madalas section will be having some veteran players who have retired. The likes of Madamombe, Mawire, Tongo, DR. Mhaka and yours truly will be out in full force to play this tournament fighting for honours. Registration is still in progress and the brochure for the tournament is online for registration. Some WhatsApp groups are inundated with the invite.
