Biti convicted

Harare -  MDC vice chairperson, Tendai Biti, has been convicted for contravening the Electoral Act when he announced the 2018 presidential elections results last year.

Tendai Biti is the most senior opposition politician to be detained since President Mnangagwa took office

Magistrate, Gloria Takundwa found Biti guilty of under the Electoral Act which does not allow individuals or parties to announce the results before the Zimbabwe Elections Commissions releases its results.

Biti’s Lawyer, Alec Muchadehama has given notice of an application, presumably of appeal,  before sentencing.
