2019 Easter Open Roars into life

Easter Open 2019 started off at a very interesting note with four sections. These sections are namely: The Open rated section, Madalas Section those one above forty years of age, Ladies section and the under 14 category.

There was a total of 153 players who took part in this festival. in the juniors category 19 players took part the most of them being boys with only one girl Nicole Chibvuri.
Ryan Chingwengwe of Harare High School was the winner of the section with 6.5 points out of the seven games which they played. It was an interesting tournament with a lot of opportunities. In the Open section Thabo Elisha led the open section up to round five with a perfect score before losing to Candidate Master board two against Emerald Mushore who was half a point behind to claim a sole lead with 5.5 points out of the six games played before going into the final round against Vitalis Mapuranga.
Thabo Elisha playing on two against Tapiwa Chikwavaire had a tricky position which had a lot of tricks and the survival of the pint sized player is a cause of concern. Zhemba Jemusse survived a scare in round six which had a lot of tactical calculations.Michael Musekiwa battled it out aganist leading to a pulsating end game which resulted in a truce after some deep thoughts. Zhemba Jemusse took on Archford Matiringe in round 7, while Micheal Musekiwa battled it out against the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Officer ( ZPCS Officer) Cyril Chigodo whose game is on the rise.
Isaiah Chikeya  took on Alois Chipfurutse when the writer wrote this article. There was a lot of pulsating moves which the players played over the checked board. In the ladies section Linda Shaba is leading with two games to go. She defeated the Woman Candidate Master Christine Makwena in a tricky position which she successfully converted after it was well thought of. By the time of going to press the game between Linda Shaba and Nyarai Muponda of Harare High School was playing her best game in a balanced game which had a lot of potential for either player.The Chief Arbiter for the tournament was Fide Arbiter Chimbamu V who was assited blton Mhangarayi was y FA-Elect Jarmil Ndoro, while FI Elton Mhangarayi was the Tournament Director.
