*Kudakwashe Sibanda wins 11 BCA Major*

Kudakwashe Sibanda (1980 BCA rating) of Nust Chess Club won the 7th BCA Heroes Open Chess Tournament on the 13th of August on tie break. Sibanda finished with 6.5 points out of 7 games. This was at Mpopoma High School and a total of 90 players took part in the open section. 

This marks the 11th BCA major victory for the man popularly known as “Sbandrov”. Incidentally, his first major tournament win was the 1st Edition of the Heroes open on 13 August 2013.
The runner up was young and upcoming Blessing Moyo (1782) of Mpopoma high school who also had the same number of points but was below on the bucholtz tie break. The Bucholtz tie break considers the sum of your opponent’s point. Sibanda’s bucholtz was 33 points while Moyo was on 30 points.

Starting September 2017, BCA introduced a development section for primary learners. At the Heroes Edition this development section was well attended.
