After three rounds of play Zhemba Jemmuse is leading with a perfect score. He is closely followed by Vitalis Mapuranga who has 2.5 points. Vitalis Mapuranga drew against Emarald Mushore in their first game which was full of fireworks. It was like a pendulum which swung from one end to the other. Mushore sacrificed a rook which Vitalis
took some time before capturing. When he captured it he lost his Queen and had to force a draw.Vitalis had two rooks and a Bishop with a passed pawn threatening to be promoted. The rooks were not connected  and Vitalis was forced to connect the two castles to prevent the pawn from being promoted. Mushore was left with a draw
in his pocket as there was a clear perpetual check with the Queen. Christine Makwena is leading in the ladies section again with a perfect score. In her games, she defeated a strong contender Linda Shaba, and Tatenda Zengeni who are among the best players contending for the top honours.
The tournament will be finished on the 13th of April. Watch space for more details.
