ZIMBABWEAN police have reported a wave of domestic violence killings, including two children allegedly poisoned by their mother and a woman axed to death by her husband over infidelity claims. At least four people died and three others were critically injured in cases spanning Zhombe, Harare, Mukumbura, Mvurwi and Kariba.
Rights groups warn the surge represents a violation of the fundamental right to life, safety and dignity enshrined in Zimbabwe’s Constitution. Police have urged families to seek counselling through traditional leaders and professionals rather than resorting to violence. The cases underscore the urgent need for state-funded protection services and prevention programmes to safeguard women and children in their homes.
