Birchenough clinic too small

clinicBIRCHENOUGH BRIDGE Residents at Birchenough Bridge service centre say they have to travel long distances to Chipinge or Mutare for treatment because a health services centre is too small and lacks enough drugs or equipment.

The referral clinic here is too small to accommodate all the patients . besides it lacks essential equipment such as syringes and other machinery. The mortuary holds only six bodies, said a local councilor Victor Wepedyo (MDC-T).

A nurse at the service center clinic Fainos Musukwe said: Fuel shortages and the unavailability of spare parts have also affected the clinic resulting in some critical cases not being attended to.

Susan Munjanja a resident said: Many people are dying at this clinic because of shortage of stuff and medication. The government is not serious about our health. We are calling the government to come at this clinic and see what is on the ground. Some patients are even dying whilst sitting on benches waiting for attention.
