Mukoko afraid to sleep

jestina_mukokoHARARE - Freed human rights champion, Jestina Mukoko, has said that she is now afraid to sleep after the horrors of her abduction last year. "I used to call my home my paradise, somewhere I could meditate. But when I came back, I am now afraid to sleep here," said Mukoko. (Pictured: Jestina Mukoko cannot forget her abduction)

The activist was abducted at dawn on December 3 last year, in her night dress and said she is still haunted by the abduction. “Every time at dawn I would be awake and imagining that they could be at the gate coming to pick me up again. I think that will take a bit of time to get over that,” she said. Mukoko is still being counselled in order to get over the horrors of her abduction.

“I think it has helped me a lot. It has helped me to cry as much as possible and to say out my heart,” she said. Last week the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the human rights campaigner that the abduction and torture violated her rights.
