Battle against rats begins in city

BULAWAYO Bulawayo City Council has resumed rodent control measures after suspending the programme two years ago because of a shortage of chemicals and staff.

Bulawayo residents have been complaining about the growing population of rats, claiming that they were destroying property in their homes.

According to the latest council report, the local authority resumed pest control after receiving 575kg of rodenticide.

A total of 1,478 points have been set up and 92kg of rodenticide have been used, read the report.

Bulawayo residents said they were delighted that the council was taking action against the pests.

These rodents have virtually destroyed the ceiling, said one resident.
