Army commander goes into gas

themba_khanyeJOHANNESBURG - Many may know him as a disciplined, loving, co-operative, understanding and fatherly figure, but now the former Zimbabwe Revolutionary Peoples Army Commander and Zimbabwe National Army Captain, Themba Khanye, is a dominant FIGURE in the South African Gas Business industry.

He started operating in the Gas sector eight years ago in Rustenburg where he ran Izwe Gas Company with a friend. They were partners for four years, and with experience gained in the process, Khanye established his own company, Ingwebu Gas. He has been running the company on his own for the last for years, despite heavy competition in the Gas industry. You have to be patient and work extra hard as the challenges are very high in this business, he said.

The soft spoken Khanye said he ventured into the gas business as it was a valuable industry in South Africa and it was in high demand in the winter months. We have restaurants, food outlets, firms and they all need gas to have their products ready for their clients, he said. Khanye is a trained Motor Diesel Mechanic and he worked eight years for Duertz Diesel Power in South Africa. He retired from the Zimbabwe National Army in 1992 and plans to move back to Zimbabwe soon to focus on his farm.

He claims not to have any political interest but prefers to focus on Veteran association trustees of Zimbabwe as they aim to instil direction and order amongst former liberation fighters of the country. People mustnt live in fear of war veterans, they are human beings and they must bear in mind that they must protect the state, but not destruct is citizens.
