Top speakers lined up for Expo

HARARE - Top local and international speakers have been lined up for Zimbabwe's first annual Research and Intellectual Expo (RIE) 2011.

The speakers include Professor Mandivamba Rukuni of Rukuni and Rukuni Associates who has written extensively about Zimbabwe’s agricultural revolution, its problems as well as its future at a time when the agriculture sector is virtually “down and out”. Rukuni will tackle the topic “Food security in Zimbabwe”.

He will be joined by University of Zimbabwe (UZ) Professors such as controversial Rudo Gaidzanwa who will speak on “Social and human sciences in an increasing scientist world.”

She will be joined by Professor Claud Mararike who will deal with “Governance and leadership – an Afro-centric perspective”, and Professor Feresu who will deal with “Air pollution control – Africa’s key to tackling cklimate change”, and Governor Aenias Chigwedere who will speak on “Culture and development’.

Chigwedere is a former Minister of Education under President Robert Mugabe’s government.

The organisers of the RIE 2011 said all was in place and the event would be held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on Wednesday, February 16, where the offical launch would be done by President Robert Mugabe.
