Musona maintains strike rate

knowledge_musona5PRETORIA Kaizer Chiefs and Warriors striker, Knowledge Musona (pictured), managed to maintain his impressive strike rate last weekend without even kicking a ball.

Injuries woes sidelined Musona from taking part in his sides 3 2 victory over Platinum Stars in a match played at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Sunday.

However, he still has a strike rate of 62%, having scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for Amakosi so far this season.

While the 20-year-old Zimbabwean is still the leading goal scorer in the ABSA Premiership, his inactivity could prove costly as it threatens his position at the summit of the scorers chart.

But while Musona might be smiling, things did not go well for Nyasha Mushekwi, who saw his conversion rate coming down from 33% to 31% during the same weekend.

The 23-year-old Mushekwi who is also a Warriors striker failed to score as his side went down 1 2 to log leaders Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

This means that in 16 appearances, Mushekwi still has 5 goals to his name.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns defeat might make it difficult for interim coach Ian Gorowa to secure a long term contract with the hugely popular club.

This is Gorowas first loss in two matches after having led the former champions to a victory in their last encounter.

Gorowa has been told by Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe to win the league title in order to be assured of the job.

Despite the latest setback, the Zimbabwean coach said he is confident of rising up to the challenge.
