According to CAF, the first leg of that qualifier is scheduled for June 24-26 in Harare, with the return leg following two weeks later in South Africa. And, the Young Warriors who missed star players Denver Mukamba and Archford Gutu due to suspension in the qualifier against Botswana said they might call up the South African-based duo for the crucial tie. “Obviously this is a very crucial tie and we need to have our best players for this encounter,” said team manager Wellington Mupandare.
“We don’t want to take chances and will call all the best players for the coaches to have a big pool from which to select the team. There is no one who is guaranteed a jersey and players should fight for places in the team,” he said.
Zimbabwe made light work of Botswana, running out 6-3 aggregate winners in Harare to set a date with South Africa.
The All Africa Games will be staged in Mozambique from September 3-18, with one country qualifying from each of the seven zones that the teams have been thrown in.
