Petros becomes the third coach in the lower league to be sacked this season after Patson Ndabambi and Saidi Sosala were relieved of their duties as coaches of Kwekwe based Chrome Stars and FC Glow, respectively.
Luke Petros has since been told to leave the residential place he had been moved into as part of a two year contract.
When contacted for comment about Petros departure, Tripple B club president Eddie Kanyangu told The Zimbabwean “that is the way the cookie crumbles in football”.
A coach is employed to do his job and when the team feels he is no longer useful, he can be told to give others some chance. His departure is not anything that is extraordinary in the game of football, he said. It is believed Petros was pushed out because he had failed to keep good relations with big shots in the teams management. Luke Petros was simply arrogant and this irked authorities influential to the day to day running of the club so most of us saw his departure coming, an insider said.
It was in the year 2000 that Luke Petros c a rved a name for himself when he scored four goals in the COSAFA tournament won by Zimbabwe. He scored a brace in the 6-0 victory against Lesotho. After playing for Lancashire Steel and Caps United in his hey days, Luke Petros crossed the Limpopo River and featured for Kaizer Chiefs before wrapping up his career at Dynamos Polokwane.
Meanwhile, premiership lightweights Kiglon Football Club parted ways with head coach Rodwell Dhlakama and his assistant Partridge Muskwe whose alleged differences pulled down the club from success. Former Monomotapa head coach, Maxwell Jongwe, has rejoined the club hoping to assist in uplifting the club to a better place on the log standings.
Kiglon only won three of the 11 matches they have played, drew four and lost four their recent heartbreak being a 1-5 defeat at the hands of Caps United.
For the Caps United fans who had previously been up in arms against coach Moses Bambo Chunga showing him the exit after a few weeks of a purple patch, last weekends victory was just enough for them to reconsider. Yes we wanted him fired when he was not producing results but a 5-1 victory is exactly what we want and in this case he deserves a chance, said Caps United follower Taurai Mandeya.
That is how we started the league with him and once you taste victory you never want to let it go. Bambo needs to give us consistence because he has already proved that Caps United has the ability to win convincingly, so there cant be any reason why we cant keep it up.
Week 11 Results: Kiglon 1-5 CAPS United, Monomotapa United 3-0 Black Mambas, FC Platinum 1-0 Zimbabwe Saints, Highlanders 0-2 Motor Action, Hwange 2-0 Chicken Inn, Masvingo United 3-0 Blue Ribbon, Dynamos 1-0 Shooting Stars, Gunners 0-0 Shabanie Mine.
