The "Vote Yes" campaign is part of the MDC-T's efforts to drum up support for the COPAC draft constitution ahead of the referendum scheduled for 16 March.

Knight who has been based in the United Kingdom is gunning for the Mbare constituency as an MP in the elections scheduled for this year.

In his brief address, Knight urged MDC-T supporters gathered for the launch to desist from violence during the referendum and harmonised polls.

Speaking on the sidelines of an interview, Knight told The Zimbabwean that his plans to clinch the Mbare constituency were well on track.

"So far I have managed to meet with high people in the MDC-T and I have also been meeting with the supporters and there is a huge interest for me to stand for the Mbare constituency in the coming elections.

"The support that I have seen so far is quite overwhelming and I am convinced that something good is going to happen. Now that elections are around the corner, I will be upping my campaign programme," said Knight.

He encouraged MDC-T supporters to vote for the COPAC draft constitution.

"The draft constitution is in my view a good one that deserves to be voted for. Even if you look at its clauses on dual citizenship, you will discover that it has made the life of some persons much easier than before and therefore it deserves to be voted for," said Knight.

He called on "responsible authorities to move with speed to make sure that people familiarise themselves with the contents of the draft constitution before the country goes for a referendum".

Another former radio personality with the ZBC, Ezra Sibanda is reportedly eyeing the Vungu constituency in the Midlands while James Maridai, formerly with the then ZBC Radio 3 is set to contest in Mabvuku.
