Rex Ecarma, Head Coach of university side the Cardinals, revealed the 18-year-old would join them in August. “I am excited a player with Courtney’s playing style will be joining us and he also has nice doubles skills,” Ecarma told The Zimbabwean from Louisville, Kentucky.

He explained how the ex-junior champion’s game would benefit from the move to the United States: “We have 23 sports teams that will be playing in one of the most prestigious conferences in the USA called the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Louisville sports programs have been known to be among the best and CBS Sports voted Louisville Sports Department as the overall sports teams in the USA! We just signed a $39 million 4-year contract with Adidas and our university spends $85 million on its 23 sports teams every 12 months. We produce professional athletes as well as Olympians.”

Lock’s father, Martin, was successful at Morehead State in the 1980s while brother, Benjamin, is currently the top player at Florida State. “The Lock family is a very classy and supportive. We are happy to embrace them into our tennis family,” said Ecarma.
