Mukamba fails at SuperSport

Zimbabwe Warriors attacking midfielder, Denver Mukamba, failed to impress at SuperSport United on a recent five-day trial.

Mukamba was off-loaded by Bidvest Wits soon after his contract lapsed in June. The former Dynamos midfielder is now looking for another club that can rope him in before the new ABSA Premiership season begins next month.

“We have decided not to sign the Zimbabwean player because he is not that kind of player we were looking for,” said SuperSport United coach, Cavin Johnson in a recent interview with The Zimbabwean.

“I gave him much time to prove himself, but we eventually realised that we already have midfielders of his calibre in the team. We did not want to keep many players that will not be used, so it’s good to tell players to try their luck elsewhere before the league starts.”

Johnson still believes Mukamba will manage to get another club in the Absa Premiership, as he said the former Dynamos star was a good player whose only undoing was that United already had his position covered.

Mukamba is one of several Zimbabweans whose contracts were not renewed at Bidvest Wits University last month, alongside former Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari, Tinashe Nengomasha and Thomas Sweswe.
