Murape determined to win championship

Former Zimbabwe national team coach, Shepherd Murape, said this week he would approach the SA National First Division games differently and help Witbank Spurs make the great leap to the Absa Premiership.

Murape was thrilled about what he has seen in the pre-season training, where he said his team had displayed sharpness since they started two weeks ago. “There are still a number of issues we need to tackled technically and some areas we still need to rectify in the short space of time ahead of the new season, but I am happy with where we are so far,” he said.

“All the Spurs players in camp have been armed with one motto – to win games and avoid complacency. We have also roped in some new players that are capable of giving us depth and allowing us post to good results as we move towards our long-time dream.” The former Dynamos skipper believed he had learnt a lot during his stint in the lower division and vowed his dream and destiny still rested in the more lucrative PSL.

“We are clear and straightforward in our dream this season and that is to get an Absa Premiership slot next season. We have been struggling for some time, but I still believe Spurs are a big club with a long history and taking them to the PSL will be a dream come true for all of us,” added the coach.

“I have decided to work on some new and more effective strategies that will be our main secret for the season and should all those work out properly, there will be no excuse for us not to get promoted.”
