Ndoro in line for CAF glory

Continental glory is beckoning for Zimbabwe national team striker Tendai Ndoro barely a season after he joined Absa Premiership giants Orlando Pirates.

The former Chicken Inn goal-getter joined the Buccaneers from Mpumalanga Black Aces earlier this season, just in time to become part of the fairy-tale run that has seen them storm the finals of the CAF Confederations Cup at the expense of Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, who are also Africa’s most decorated side in continental club football.

Following their 1-0 win over Al-Ahly at home in the reverse fixture, Pirates needed to draw or get beaten by a goal in a scoring loss, but they went two up by beating the Egyptians 4-3 in their own backyard on Sunday.

That means they proceeded with an impressive 5-3 aggregate win, as they ready themselves for a second star in the final with fellow former continental champions, Etoil du Sahel of Tunisia.

Ndoro did not play in that history-echoing win, but the fact that he has been a part of the Bucs team that made the progress – playing some games in the process, means he should count himself in for the squads that will play in the two-legged final, which the Bucs host first on the weekend of November 20-22.

The return duel is slated to take place the following weekend in Sousse, Tunisia, with Ndoro obviously looking forward to not only being part of the triumphant lot, but playing a role or even winning the match for his side.
