HARARE – The CBZ Premiership Soccer league kicks off this weekend, but it may be the action off the field that proves most interesting.
The main attraction will be the match between two parties that dominated the off-season with a stormy battle for the right to use the acronym CAPS, which spilled into the High Court and remains unresolved.
The Twine Phiri-owned Caps United will lock horns with CAPS Holdings (formerly Buymore) in an encounter that will be more than just a game. After seeing dismissed their urgent High Court appeal, seeking to bar CAPS Holdings from using the acronym, United have clearly set their sights on winning their battle on the field.

Under 23s missed their chances
HARARE – The Under-23 national team have an uphill task beating Mozambique in the return fixture in Maputo on 9 March after they were held to a disappointing 0-0 at Rufaro stadium on Saturday, if they entertain any hopes of going to the All Africa Games.
Zimbabwe, who are in Zone VI of the African showpiece qualifiers, together with Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa could have won the game in the first half had they converted half the chances that came their way.
However, the Young Warriors failed to command a healthy lead ahead of the return fixture and have themselves to blame for playing to the gallery.
