Trescothick’s future uncertain

BY JOHN HUGHES
MARCUS Trescothick, a veteran of 76 Tests and 123 one-day internationals, may have played his last match for England after pulling out of a second successive winter tour, due to an ongoing stress-related illness.
The 31-year-old Somerset batsman's shock decision came

after he agreed to be named in England’s provisional squad for next month’s inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa. That will be followed by tours to Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
“I still have aspirations of getting back,” says Trescothick. “But I can only assess the situation as I go along.”
Yorkshire lead the County Championship table by 16 points after Younis Khan, their Pakistan star, scored his second unbeaten double century of the season in a high-scoring draw with Kent at Scarborough.
Title-holders Sussex, lying second with a match in hand, took only seven points from a rain-hit stalemate at Southampton. John Crawley, Hampshire’s ex-England man, hit his first century of the season.
