The tough-tackling defender is over the moon after scoring his first goal for Chiefs in a 3-0 midweek victory over ABSA PSL returnees, Free State Stars.
“When I saw that ball in the sky, I first thought about jumping up and heading it home; as it was falling I thought of finishing it off in style.
The keeper was caught in no man’s land and I had time to go for the spectacular and that is what I did. I thought, it is for my first Chiefs goal, why not make it one to remember,” the 21-year-old explained.
Bhasera started the move that saw him and Kaizer Motaung Junior combine with good effect before he was on the end of Motaung’s cross in the 77th minute for the second goal of the match.
He finished off the cross with a spectacular scissor kick to score his first-ever goal for the rejuvenated Amakhosi.
The former Harare United player attributed the performance, which saw Shaun Bartlett and Mabhuti Khenyeza notch up the other goals, to teamwork.
“If you look at all our goals, it was really quick thinking on our part which saw us find the back of the net. To be successful, you need all the departments to do their job and that is what happened for us,” the Chiefs No. 3 added.
Hailed as his team’s solution to the problematic leftback position, Bhasera has been in scintillating form since his surprise move to the Naturena giants from relegated Maritzburg United.
Such has been his form that he has kept crowd favourite, David Obua, on the substitute’s bench this season.
Meanwhile, his effort has been hailed by Chiefs technical staff.
“It was really strange to see a defender playing so fast forward when he managed to win the ball somewhere past the halfway line, win the ball, and set up the attack which led to his goal,” the club said on its official website.
