The second leg will be played two weeks later at Gwanzura, as the country’s football giants compete for a whopping Z$35billion in the Premiership’s opening tournament.
The runners-up will pocket $15 billion with both sides getting an additional $12,5 billion for participating in the competition, while best player and top goal scorer will each get $1,6 billion.
This follows after the unveiling of a $196 billion sponsorship by Nestle Zimbabwe in Harare, last week.
Relegated side, Mwana Africa will miss this year’s edition of the high-profile tournament, which they won last year after beating Highlanders 3-0 at Trojan, before the two sides met for a goalless encounter in Bulawayo in the reverse fixture.
The two-legged face-off will give Dynamos and Highlanders a valuable opportunity to strengthen their skills as they prepare for a highly competitive African inter-clubs competition.
League champions Dynamos are scheduled to play Swaziland’s Royal Leopards in the Preliminary round of the Caf Champions League, while Highlanders face a tough assignment against Ferroviario de Nampula of Mozambique, a week after the first leg of the Charity Shield.
Meanwhile, the reigning soccer star of the year, Murape Murape, has been appointed the Dynamos skipper, taking over from Justice Majabvi who is reported to be trying his luck with Bloemfontein Celtics, in South Africa. – Gracie Chirumanzu
