Mawiwi took over from Mike Madzivanyika who was relieved from his duty a fortnight ago following an average performance, which appeared to have not pleased the owners of the club. But Mawiwi acknowledges that his predecessor, Madzivanyika, left the team in good shape for the league.
I must be honest, the boys were well looked after by Mike, there is a lot of potential in the team, he said. They (Eagles) have taken me for the purpose of consistency. Eagles started the league well and they need to be consistent and maintain their good performance which will certainly give them a top five finish; that will be a good achievement considering its their first year in the premier league.
While a number of coaches move from one club to another having been sacked for a poor set of results, Mawiwi chose to move. He left Lengthens, a competitive side currently on position three on the log table for Eagles who are ninth.
He explained to The Zimbabwean his instability with premiership teams was probed by a search of greener pastures though admitting he worked with the Lengthens bosses so well and I dont have a problem with them.
I was well supported by Musa Gwasira and John Chikoti and leaving was something that broke my heart but circumstances sometimes force me to especially the situation in our country, said Mawiwi.
