Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie said the left backs contract with the South African club was null and void and Chiefs were illegally holding on to the player.
Onismor has a dispute. He has a contract with Kaizer Chiefs which, in this country, would be illegal, There is an optional year in the contract. However, there were no figures along with that, therefore under regulations that would not be classified, Storrie said in a statement posted on the Portsmouth website.
Bhasera insists that he is a free agent, but Chiefs are adamant that the player has a year left on his contract and Portsmouth should therefore pay a transfer fee.
Last month, Portsmouth referred the matter to the Federation of International Football Association for redress as it sought to acquire the services of the player in an effort to boost its leaky defence. A few games into the new season, the team is already staring relegation in the face.
