Senior Men’s Challenge Competitions Committee chairman, Timothy Shongwe, told the COSAFA website that the organization was impressed with the way the tournament had progressed.
“As COSAFA, we would like to express our appreciation to the Zimbabwean people, the stakeholders in football, and the generality of Zimbabweans for affording me and my team and the organizing committee an opportunity to know and work with them. We are indeed thankful for the support they have given us to this point and for having made sure this tournament is the success that it has been so far,” he said.
Shongwe hailed the role played by ZIFA Chief Executive Officer, Henrietta Rushwaya and the COSAFA General
Manager Kennedy Ndebele.
“Henrietta (Rushwaya) and Kennedy (Ndebele) have been an integral part of the coordination programme of this whole tournament. They have made sure everything has been moving swiftly in Zimbabwe and that everybody is looked after well in Zimbabwe and we would like to thank them and all others that they have been working with for this job that has been
well done, said Shongwe.
The Senior Men’s Challenge kicked off in Harare on October 17 and is currently at the semi-final stage.
Although the tournament experienced a number of hitches, Shongwe said, Our general overview at the moment is that we have had a fruitful tournament so far that has managed to assist us achieve our intended targets. It has been a worthwhile experience so far and we hope to continue like this until the end of the tournament. We would like to extend our welcome to the teams that are joining the tournament at this stage and we hope that they will also enjoy this tournament like we have been and we say let the best team win at the end of the day.

Johannesburg-The Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) has expressed its gratitude to stakeholders in Zimbabwean football for the role they have played in administering the COSAFA Senior Men's Challenge.
