Prophet warns against feeding schemes

MARONDERA - A prophet with the Joanne Masowe Apostolic Faith by the name of John has spoken out against donated food, saying it was poisoned in an attempt to eliminate rural communities.

The prophet last week carried out religious rituals to cleanse school children of the poison they had allegedly eaten in porridge donated by local NGOs.

John took samples of hair and threads from school childrens heads and uniforms. He ordered affected families to accompany him to his shrine for all night prayers. School children have since stopped taking the NGO donated porridge saved at Masikana School. We later learnt that the prophet is a Zanu (PF) activist who wanted to demonize donor activities, said a disturbed parent.

Porridge prepared by voluntary villagers is likely to go to waste.

School performance of the children has plummeted as some children prefer learning on an empty stomach than taking poisoned porridge, said a teacher at the school. Taurai Bande
