Shamu is a long standing loyal Dynamos fan and usually attends their matches in good and bad times. He reportedly wields power within the Dynamos board of directors which makes
decisions in the affairs of the biggest club in the country. Moyo was ousted from the club following a vote of no confidence passed on him by eight members of the board of directors, namely: Freddie Mkwesha, Robson Rundaba, Owen Chandamale, Ephraim Mupariwa, Charles Gwatidzo, Patrick Amato Dzvene, Sunday Chidzambwa and Bernard Marriot Lusengo.
Three other directors – board chairman Richard Chiminya, Nathan Maziti and Jairos Banda – did not sign the document.
It is alleged that the board was concerned that the executive committee members were awarding themselves allowances to go for away games without its approval. It is also alleged that Moyo was yet to account for US$600 advanced to him for the trip to South Africa. The Harare businessman also stands accused of failing to explain to the players the delay in paying them their salaries and allowances. Although, it has now emerged that the directors who passed a vote of no confidence on Moyo have no locus standi to make such key decisions, ***The Zimbabwean has heard that there are behind the scenes manoeuvres by Shamu and Minister of Youth and Employment creation, Saviour Kasukuwere, to elevate club secretary general, Stan Kasukuwere, to the influential position of chairman.
“There is a possibility that Stan Kasukuwere will be elevated to the position of chairman,” said a source close to the goings on at Dynamos. “Shamu is a very influential figure within Dynamos and is backing Kasukuwere for that position. We will see how it goes but the minister is not happy with the current problems rocking the club at a crucial stage of the league campaign. The problems at DeMbare have started to affect the team’s challenge for honours after they were locked out of their training ground at Prince Edward School last week ahead of their league clash against Kiglon because of non payment of ground rentals. Dynamos eventually lost 3-2 to the Chitungwiza-based side and handed over the initiative to Gunners who beat champions Monomotapa in another league match to reclaim top spot at the league table. Gunners now have 55 points from 28 matches while Dynamos trail behind with 53 points from the same number of matches. Only two matches are left before the curtain comes down on the Zimbabwe soccer calendar.
