But tomorrow they will have a rare opportunity to have a close glance at the World Cup trophy.

The coming of the World Cup trophy has generated an unprecedented level of interest among Zimbabwean soccer fans as the 6.175g gold trophy, touches down at the Harare International Airport in the evening.

The cup, which is touring the all the 52 member countries, contains semi-precious malachite at its base, with the bottom of the cup bearing the engraved name and edition of each winner since 1974.

The prestigious World Cup trophy remains with the world soccer governing body and will only tour the winning country before it is returned to the association’s headquarters in Zurich for the next tournament.

A gold plated replica will be awarded in place to the winners.

A special movie will be shot as the trophy stops over in Harare. The trophy tour will be at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
