Zim body builders off to Dubai

bodybuildingBULAWAYO - Simon Gama, the former Mr Zimbabwe Junior champion, and Givemore Marumwe, the four-time Mr Zimbabwe winner, are scheduled to take part the in the World Amateur Men's body-building Championships being held in Dubai.

The event runs from November 3 – 8. All participants who finish within the top five in their respective categories willbe invited to take part in Mr Olympia. Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding and Fitness Association organising secretary, Prince Mugeyi, told The Zimbabwean that the two had been chosen to represent the country at the event.

“I can confirm that the trio has already left for the championships. We are also making frantic efforts to ensure that last year’ Mr Zimbabwe runner-up Chenai Mambweri who is now based in Dubai be allowed to take part in the event, he said. Mugeyi paid tribute to the vice-president of Africa Body-building and Physique Sport Federation, Boukar Tikire, who is based in Cameroon, for sponsoring the athletes with visa fees and air tickets.

Gama said this was a dream come true for him especially after he was denied a visa to the United States in June where he was to participate in the Mr Musclemania. “This is a dream come true for me. I have now been presented with yet another opportunity to represent my country. It will not be a walk in the park as I do not know my counterparts but I will surely do my best to make the nation proud,” he said.
