Entries will open on Saturday, January 30, 2010 and will only be accepted at Mr Price Stores. Entries will close as soon as the first 2,000 entries have been received

This has not been an easy decision for the CMA as we do not want to send mixed messages and signals to our runners or compromise the decision making process, but we do have an obligation to all the Comrades athletes and CMA stakeholders to ensure that the 85th Anniversary race is a true celebration, It is therefore that the decision was made to accept an additional 2,000 entries, said Dave Dixon, CMA Chairman

Zimbabwean long distance running sensation Stephen Muzhingi won the 2009 edition of the race. The veteran runner emerged from the race R220 000 richer after clocking in at 5:23:26 sec the second fastest time ever in the races 84 year history.

His countryman, Elijah Mutandiro also boasts an impressive record, with two victories in the Nedbank Soweto Marathon, and they are expected to shine again.

The Comrades Marathon is run annually between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.

Dates for the race, traditionally held in June, were altered and brought forward to May, to make way for the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
