Residents who sought testing for various reasons, were left helpless as no medical institution in town could carry out the exercise due to lack of resources.
“I have visited all testing centres without success. Both government and private medical institutions have indicated that they ran out of testing kits,” said Ella Binuli, who wanted the results for a job interview.
Laboratory technicians at Marondera General Hospital and private test centres, said they had run out of S. D. Bioline and Determine, used to carrying out the HIV/AIDS status tests.
“The kits have been out of supply since late December. We are not sure of when we will get supplies. The shortage is inconveniencing members of the public who are keen to know their status for various reasons. People visiting test centres are opting for counselling while waiting for the kits,” said a lab technician at the hospital.Post published in: Analysis
