Kasinauyo backs Moroka Swallows to win

HARARE Former Caps United midfielder Edzai Kasinauyo, who also had a stint with South Africas ABSA Cup winners Moroka Swallows, is backing the South African club to win the decisive second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.

The Harare giants are expected to leave for South Africa today (Thursday) for the first round, second leg clash against the Dube Birds.

Caps United were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Harare two weeks back and coach Lloyd Chitembwes men were a pale shadow of their usual selves, as they failed to capitalise on the home advantage. Swallows took the lead just before half-time through former Bafana Bafana striker Siyabonga Nomvete, who headed the ball home. Nyasha Mushekwi equalised moments later.

However, Kasinauyo, who also played for the Warriors, was not convinced by CAPS Uniteds performance and believes the weekend match weighs heavily against the Harare team.

They looked rusty, he said. Maybe it has to do with the fact that they were off season since December last year, while Swallows were actively involved. They lacked urgency despite playing on a familiar turf.

Caps now need to score two goals for them to qualify, but that will be very difficult because they are away this time. I have played for Swallows as well and I know they are difficult to beat at home. They have a huge support base and it will be very difficult for Caps, said Kasinauyo.

The Harare giants are one of the four Zimbabwean teams playing in Africa this year. The others are Dynamos, Gunners and Lengthens, who are all still very much in the competition after pulling through to the first round.
