Cayeux dropped four positions to 28th while Charamba is now ranked 38th from his previous rating of 35 after five tournaments. However, the two still managed to increase their earnings with Cayeux amassing R220 326 while Charamba now has R147 479 to his name. The five leading golfers in the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit, Charl Schwartzel, Keith Horne, Thomas Aiken, Jbe Kruger and Hennie Otto, are all South Africans a development that shows that they have dominated proceedings so far this season.
The lucrative Tour which pits some of the worlds best golfers against each other was a particularly tough nut to crack in February for Zimbabwean golfers with the Vodacom Championship proving to be yet another insurmountable hurdle to all but one of them. The Vodacom Championship held from February 25 to 28th at Pretoria Country Club was dominated by South African golfers with Zimbabwean Sean Farrel finishing a distant 58th, becoming the only local competitor managing an above the cut finish. Otto claimed the R420 000 prize after winning the event while fellow South African Kruger and Brazilian Adilson da Silva finished third and fourth respectively. The dominance of the South Africans was clearly evidenced by the fact that the other top ten slots were shared among them.
Besides Farrel who received R8 347 for his efforts the rest of the Zimbabwean golfers who competed in the tournament did not manage to salvage anything from their efforts with Cayeux, Ryan Cairns, Mike Curtis, Charamba, Ignatius Mketekete all finishing below the cut. This was the second time in the same month that only a single Zimbabwean has managed to finish above the cut. Cayeux was the only one who managed a respectable finish in the Telkom PGA Championship, held at The Country Club in Johannesburg on 18 February. He finished 48th, after finishing 6th in the Dimension Data Pro-Am seven days earlier.
