Zanu (PF) hijacks project

woman_with_baby_at_clinicHARARE - Zanu (PF) leadership in Mudzi have hijacked a clinic electrification project that was initiated by Petersen Kazingizi from the United Kingdom. (Pictured: A woman with her baby at the newly electrified clinic)

Led by the council chairman, Edmore Nyanguo, who is working closely with MP for the area, Simba Mudarikwa, Zanu (PF) hoodlums told Kazingizi that he should hand the project over to Mudarikwa.

“They said that I cannot go in front of the people with my developmental projects as that would prove to the community that the MP Mudarikwa was doing nothing. I electrified the two clinics Mashayanhaka and Katiyo as a community project that would help everyone, regardless of political affiliation,” said Katiyo.

The issue of the clinic has left Zanu (PF) divided in the province, with the local headmen and some Zanu (PF) councillors expressing anger over Mudarikwas actions.

Despite the spirited opposition from Zanu (PF) hardliners, Kazingizi went ahead with the electrification project.

“We would like to thank Kazingizi for helping the community with something that we always dreamt of, said the sister in charge at the clinic. Now we can do our jobs as our drugs can be stored in refrigerators.

The two clinics have a combined catchment area of 15 000 people who all contributed financially to the project.

“People should have received electricity a long time ago but ZESA took their time installing the power so I had to travel from London in order to see to it that the project was completed,” said Kazingizi.

At the height of the economic crises in the country, people living in the Diaspora supported their families at home significantly.

“We will always be Zimbabweans and even though we do not earn much we try to help people back home. I would like to urge all people who are living in the Diaspora to contribute in the development of the country to make it a better place,” said Kazingizi.
