The determined reigning African Rally Champion maintained his top position on the log table in Uganda, last weekend, when he won the race to lead the six legged competition with 115 points, 55 points ahead of second placed Giancarlo Davite of Rwanda. The KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda was the third leg of the 2010 ARC series with the first two legs having been held in Tanzania and Kenya in February and April.
The Zimbabwean driver together with his partner a fellow countryman- Phil Archenoul won the first leg of the series the Kobil Rally of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam before winning the second leg in Kenya. Whyte crossed the finish line with his Subaru N10 in clocked 2:03.44 two minutes 48seconds ahead of Ssebuguzi. “It was a brilliant show. I am over moon, over the moon, over the moon I am. Its great getting maximum points here. I will try and do the same in Rwanda and hopefully win the African championship again,” Whyte said.
Whyte will be expected to continue displaying his expertise in the ARC series fourth leg in Rwanda during the weekend of June 27-29 before moving to Zambia, the following month. Zimbabwe pull the competitions curtains down by hosting the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally from August 27-29, which will be the sixth and final leg of this years African rally series of competitions.
