The Board will receive updates from the Pakistan Task Team, the Zimbabwe Task Team, the Governance Review Committee and the ongoing preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka as well as discussing the content and direction of the ICC Strategic Plan 2011-15, ICC said in a statement. Zimbabwe is on the verge of returning to Test cricket after about five years on the sidelines. This followed the teams drop in form after senior players quit because of differences with Zimbabwe Cricket management.
Meanwhile, The ICC Board, which has a zero-tolerance approach to corruption in cricket, was updated on the spot-fixing allegations against three Pakistan players during a recent tour to England. Under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, the players Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were provisionally suspended from all cricket. In accordance with the provision of the code all three have appealed that provisional suspension and the independent hearing will take place in Doha, Qatar, on 30 and 31 October and will be chaired by the head of the ICC Code of Conduct Commission, Michael Beloff, QC.
As has been the case up to now, comment from the ICC on this issue will be strictly limited so as not to prejudice the case, said ICC this week.
