Chikwaikwai off Wits Radar

evans_chikwaikwaiJOHANNESBURG - Bidvest Wits F.C will not be bringing back Zimbabwean international goal-poacher Evans Chikwaikwai for the 2011/2012 ABSA Premiership season.

Club Communications manager Sithembiso Zikalala said they will not be retaining Chikwaikwai, who is currently on loan to top Mozambican side Costa do Sol. Maybe he will remain on loan in Mozambique or a he will get a new loan deal somewhere. He is a good player but he is not currently on the list of players needed for the new season, said Zikalala.

The Warriors gunman, who scooped both the 2008 Soccer Star of the Year and Golden Boot Award, was dogged by injuries since joining the Johannesburg-based outfit, prompting his club to loan him out. He went to Mozambique after he failed to get a contract at First Division Coastal Stream side Hanover Park, where he had a successful six-month stint last season.

Chikwaikwai scored nine goals in 13 matches during a six-month loan spell at Liga Muculmana. Four seasons ago he finished top scorer in the Zimbabwe PSL with 23 goals for Sundowns and was named the 2008 Soccer Star of the Year.

Prior to joining the Bidvest, he had already scored nine goals in just 11 games, leading to the belief that he could continue his rich goal scoring form. The Rusape-born striker has also previously had trials in France.
