Bosso failed to take advantage of playing before their loyal Barbourfields crowd last week under the managerial reigns of Mkupali Masuku to be held to a nil-all draw by visiting Masvingo United. The Bulawayo side needed to pick up some points after losing 0-1 away to Monomotapa in their second game in Harare, but could not find the net – despite dominating the game.
Now in eighth place with four points from three matches, five behind log leaders Caps United, Highlanders know they cannot afford another slip up.
“We need to pick ourselves up right now to avoid pressure in the race,” Masuku admitted in an interview this week. “It’s still too early though to judge us. The season is still in its infancy and anything can happen,” he said. Gunners, who are missing goal poacher Norman Maroto to cash-rich outfit FC Platinum during the off season, are also struggling with their game.
They are lying a distant fifth from the bottom with a paltry two points from three matches following their 0-2 defeat to newboys Chicken Inn last weekend when Canaan Nkomo and veteran defender Herbert Dick scored a goal each to condemn the Harare side to their first defeat of the season. There is no doubt Gunners will be like wounded lions against Bosso this weekend.
