Mujaji braces for All Africa games

GWERU - Zimbabwes prestigious athlete Elliot Mujaji, who suffered a knee injury in 2008, has regained fitness and is now in the midst of preparing for the All Africa Games scheduled for Mozambique in September.

Mujaji who lost his right arm when electrocuted in an accident at work first impressed in the Sydney, Australia, 2000 Olympics when he scooped a gold medal in the 100m sprint races before winning the world championship accolade in France two years later.

That achievement saw him being recognised as the countrys sports person of the year in 2002. Since then he has ruled the local amputee competitions and proved a force to reckon with in several races abroad.

It was however in 2008 that he encountered a severe knee injury that has seen almost three years of inactivity.

I am now fully fit and my focus is on the All Africa Games. I started preparing last year for the competition and by now I think I am ready, the outspoken athlete said.

He also revealed that he will use local competitions like the Paralympics games as part of his preparations for the September games.
