Disgruntled teachers at the school have been staging a sit in protest.
A school source said the final day of last term was “mayhem” when the headmaster asked grade seven teachers to remain behind and receive more cash. “The teachers were given $90 each,” the source said.
“On the opening day other teachers staged a sit in protest and were paid $50 each. The discriminatory incentive arrangement was not achieving its goals as some teaching staff had become demotivated.”
One upset teacher said most teachers were angry at the arrangement. “Imagine a selected group of teachers receiving $90 incentives while others get nothing, only to be given $50 each after staging a protest.
“It does not take a rocket scientist to appreciate that a child does not start learning at grade seven but from lower grades.” The school head, a Mr Tewe, could not be reached for comment.
