Young Warriors chief striker Sithole still doubtful

It is doubtful whether Young Warriors chief striker Simba Sithole will be able to play for his country in the decisive second leg of the All-Africa Games qualifier against South Africa on Sunday.

Zimbabwe Under-23 team manager Wellington Mupandare said he had written to Mamelodi Sundowns seeking the release of the player for the international match but has not received a response.

"If he fails to avail himself, we will be left with no option but to field those available. It will be a major set back because he is an influential member of the team,” said Mupandare.

The All-Africa Games are not on the FIFA calendar and clubs are not compelled to release players for national duty.

Zimbabwe need to beat South Africa by three clear goals to book a ticket to the continental games after they were beaten 2-0 in the first leg in South Africa.

However, the good news is that bustling striker Mathew Rusike will be available for the match as he is still to secure a visa to travel to England where he has been invited for trials by Barclays Premiership side Bolton Wanderers.
