Last weekend, the 23-year-old Zimbabwean added another accolade to her medal haul by winning the second Sekhukhune Mayor’s race in the Limpopo Province. The victory was a follow-up to another in the inaugural Gauteng Champions Marathon.
Nyahora was confident of building on those achievements when the Bonitas City2City Marathon resumes on September 30.
“I am in good form because of the hard work I have put in training and I’m upbeat ahead of the marathon,” she said ahead of the race that is fast becoming one of Gauteng’s premier road running races.
The 50-km event between Johannesburg and Pretoria attracts thousands of local and international runners. Nyahora has intensified training ahead of this and other upcoming races.
“I am training harder because I will now be racing all over the world. I am also preparing for the Spar Ladies Marathon in Johannesburg in October, and another race in Soweto in December,” she added.
The year has proven to be the most productive for Nyahora. She has already scooped silver in the annual Durban Spar Women’s 10 kilometre Challenge, gold in the City of Polokwane Mayoral Half Marathon and the season-opening BestMed Tuks Marathon in Pretoria. She also won silver medal in the 10km Cape Town Spar Women’s Challenge.
